Enûma Eliš (also transliterated Enuma Elish) also known as The Seven Tablets of Creation is a Babylonian or Mesopotamian epic poem describing the beginnings of the cosmos, the birth of the gods, the rise to dominance of the god Marduk, and the creation of humanity. So, there was stuff, which is a different beginning to a creation story, just not very marketable stuff. Unable to defeat Tiamat, the Sumerian Gods, Enki and Enlil cede their power to Marduk by granting “Enlil-ship” to Him. Ea.
